Segue Reading Series: Tyrone Williams & Joselia Rebekah Hughes. December 11, 2021, Artists Space.

Tyrone Williams teaches literature and theory at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the author of several chapbooks, seven books of poetry and a limited-edition art project. He and Jeanne Heuving edited an anthology of critical essays, Inciting Poetics.

Joselia Rebekah Hughes is a disabled Afro-Caribbean writer, artist and autodidact. She lives through Sickle Cell Disease. Her work examines languages of finitude; instruments abstractions to surface conditions of disabled Blackness; and interrogates play reclamation as a means to upend societal perceptions and values regarding ability, chronic illness and disability. Her writing has appeared in Apogee Journal, Leste Magazine, Jewish Currents, The Poetry Project and Ocean State Review. Joselia’s full-length, Blackable: A Nopem, is forthcoming on Inpatient Press.
