Segue Reading Series: Heather Lynn Johnson & Edwin Torres. March 5, 2022, Artists Space.

Heather Lynn Johnson’s art and poetry is characterized by its lyricism, cultural critique, and willingness to lay bare her existence as a butch Black lesbian with an emphasis on objectification and lost histories. She’s currently working on her first solo show “The Essence We Leave Behind” opening in March 2022.

Edwin Torres’ books include; Quanundrum, Xoeteox, Ameriscopia; he is the editor of The Body In Language: An Anthology. He has performed his bodylingo poetics widely and has received support for his work from NYFA, The Foundation for Contemporary Arts, and The DIA Foundation, among others. Recent anthologies include, Emergency Index, Manifold Criticism, and Poets In The 21st Century: Poetics of Social Engagement. This Spring, he’s teaching a Poetry Workshop as an adjunct at Columbia University.
