PRACTICE x Wind

Initiated in 2015, PRACTICE operated for nearly three years as a shared studio, residency, and gallery in Manhattan’s Chinatown, becoming a vibrant resting point for a dispersed network of artists to temporarily live and work. Published following the culmination of activities at this location in 2017, PRACTICE x Wind (N-o-nS…e;nSI/c::::a_L, 2018) gathers images and texts which document the space and its various custodians. Affectionate and richly subjective in tone, the book is accompanied by a separate volume which catalogues installation views of exhibitions staged.

In collaboration with past residents Yuchen Chang, Cecily Culver, Banyi Huang, Joseph Imhauser, Amy Lien & Enzo Camacho, Taro Masushio, Irini Miga, Casey Robbins, and Tarwuk, PRACTICE presents an evening of slides and music to commemorate the two-part publication's New York launch. Taiwan-based artist and current resident Chi Po-Hao stages a special performance using an interactive and generative music system with found and self-produced instruments, while junzi kitchen will design and provide food.

始於2015年，PRACTICE作為一個共享的藝術家工作室、駐留項目、展覽場地在曼哈頓唐人街已經工作了大約三年的時間，逐漸變成了一個藝術家廣泛分散網絡的休息點，讓藝術工作者可以暫時在這裏生活和工作。PRACTICE x Wind (N-o-nS…e;nSI/c::::a_L, 2018) 出版於這裏活動最頻繁的2017年，它集合了圖像與文字記錄下空間與其管理者的回憶。這本書充滿了感情與豐富的主觀敘述，另外附有一本小別冊為歷年展覽的現場照片與展覽文本。

與過去曾駐留過的藝術家常羽辰、 Cecily Culver、黃半衣、Joseph Imhauser、Amy Lien & Enzo Camacho、Taro Masushio、 Irini Miga、Casey Robbins、 Tarwuk共同創作，在紐約的發佈會上，PRACTICE將通過幻燈片與音樂來展示這本出版物。正在PRACTICE做駐留的台灣藝術家紀柏豪將進行特別的現場演出，結合現成以及自己創造的樂器，生成互動和衍生音樂系統。junzi kitchen將設計與供應食物。

Founded in 2015, PRACTICE was located on the top floor of a Cantonese building in Chinatown, New York. It served as a shared artists’ studio and exhibition space that welcomed migratory friends passing through the city to live and work on projects for free. In October 2017, PRACTICE relocated to Yonkers, where it is guided and nurtured by Wang Xu and Cici Wu.

成立於2015年，PRACTICE位於紐約唐人街一棟廣東樓的頂樓。作為一個共享的工作室與展覽場地，同時免費讓遷移中的朋友在路過這個城市的時候居住與工作。在2017年十月，PRACTICE遷離到了Yonkers，由王旭與Cici Wu作為引導與培育。
