Paul Wallfisch has played in bands like Firewater and Little Annie, while Dana Schechter has logged time with American Music Club, Angels of Light and her own Insect Ark, among others. They’ve been friends since meeting in New York in the 1990s. Years later they forged a stronger connection as bandmates in Botanica and palying with Swans. Over the years Paul Wallfisch has been a prolific composer for film and TV, including Dummy, with Adrien Brody and Milla Jovovich (which the musician also appeared in). After spending years splitting her time between New York and Berlin, Dana Schechter settled in Berlin in 2020 and is currently a fix member of Swans. They renewed their artistic partnership in 2021, when Paul invited Dana to Vienna to help him develop the music for a multimedia theatrical spectacle called Die Politiker written by Kleist prize winner Wolfram Lotz. The music from the production provides the foundation for the duo’s first album, The Heart of A Whale.
Nels Cline (b. 1956 in Los Angeles) has been messing around with the guitar since he was 12, so he’s been at it for 57 years. His zig-zag path has seen him in the stylistic/aesthetic realms of rock, jazz, exploratory improvised music, psych, with some leaning into country and ambient areas now and again. Best known for his presence in the band Wilco the last 21 years, Nels leads his 2 groups The Nels Cline Singers & Consentrik Quartet and collaborates with many improvisers when he’s not out with Wilco. He has also played on an ungodly number of recordings in the last 4 decades.
F U C K E D is a noun, verb, and adjective. Sick electronics and field recordings from the underworld by Bob Bellerue and JHK.
Nursalim Yadi Anugerah is composer and multi-instrumentalis, focuses on sonic experimentation through cultural practice, knowledge production, and the cosmology of Indigenous people and their activism related to socio-cultural and environmental issues in Kalimantan (Borneo). It contains echoes of diverse genres—including Kalimantan Indigenous music and symbols, the Indonesian underground noise scene, ritualistic chants, and European avant-garde compositions—which enable his overarching political project: a critique of ecological devastation and the question of survival. His works have been staged in concerts and festivals such as International Young Composers Meeting (The Netherlands), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Utrecht), AsiaTOPA (Melbourne, Australia), November Music (Den Bosch), Holland Festival (Amsterdam), TIME:SPANS Festival (New York).
