Friends of Artists Space Dinner 2026

Artists Space is thrilled to announce the details of our forthcoming Friends of Artists Space Dinner, which will be held on April 20th at the historic Hall of Records. This year, we will honor three extraordinary figures whose work has profoundly shaped our field: artists Wade Guyton and Cameron Rowland, and curator Elisabeth Sussman.

By becoming a Friend of Artists Space you are invited as our guest to this landmark event, in support of our exhibitions and programs.

The Friends of Artists Space provide essential support for our programming, advancing artistic production and new commissions. This visionary work requires visionary leadership, and our Friends affirm a shared commitment to radical art forms and visibility for all communities.

Our tickets and tables are priced as follows below. Please contact kelly@artistsspace.org with your questions.

Wade Guyton, © Thomas Pirot

Wade Guyton emerged in the mid-2000s with a landmark series of abstract paintings composed of simple forms and letters printed on canvas, early indications of the rising entanglement of art and technology, a reality that he continues to interrogate. Guyton is also the steward of the David Armstrong Estate, a role requiring great care and acumen that he shares with James Haslam and Lisa Love. Armstrong’s first posthumous survey will be on view at Artists Space from March 13 - May 23. Guyton lives and works in New York. His work has been the subject of numerous one-person museum exhibitions including the Museum Ludwig in Cologne (2019), the Serpentine Gallery in London (2017), Le Consortium in Dijon (2016), Kunsthalle Zürich (2013), and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (2012).

Cameron Rowland is an artist making visible the institutions, systems, and policies that perpetuate systemic racism and economic inequality. Rowland’s research-intensive work centers around the display of objects and documents whose provenance and operations expose the legacies of racial capitalism and underscore the forms of exploitation that permeate many aspects of our daily lives. Rowland’s first institutional solo exhibition 91020000, was held at Artists Space in 2016.

Elisabeth Sussman was the Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art until 2025. She co-curated the Whitney Biennial 2012 with Jay Sanders. Sussman's Gordon Matta-Clark: You Are the Measure was awarded the AICA award for best monographic show in New York (2007–08). Other exhibitions for the Whitney included William Eggleston: Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961–2008 (with Thomas Weski); Remote Viewing: Invented Worlds in Recent Painting and Drawing; Mike Kelley: Catholic Tastes; Nan Goldin: I'll Be Your Mirror (with David Armstrong); Keith Haring; and the museum's 1993 Biennial Exhibition. She has been awarded fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation at the Rockefeller Study and Conference Center in Bellagio, Italy (1999), and the Getty Research Institute (2003).
