Opening Reception
Tuesday, July 8, 6-8 pm

Initiated in 2004, this eclectic group exhibition presents ten New York-based artists, each chosen by an independent curator, at a particular point in their careers that could be aptly described as their “salad days.” This open-ended exhibition platform continues to showcase a promising group of emerging artists and curators alike, often being their first New York-based exhibition, providing the opportunity to present their work to a broad audience.

Several artworks sit in a dimly lit gallery space, illuminated by light from an open gallery window. Three video monitors are installed on plinths to the left of the image. In front of them and closest to the viewer, an overturned cardboard box rests on the floor. To the left, a stool-like structure sits on a plinth illuminated by a bright overhead light. Behind this structure, a series of small works on paper are displayed on a gallery wall.

Several geometric structures of varying sizes are displayed in close, overlapping clusters in a gallery space. The largest structure of the group nearly touches the gallery ceiling is composed of an array of flat pentagons that form circular, symmetrical patterns. Behind this structure is a large archway-shaped wall decal showing further colorful arrays and patterns. Several other, smaller pieces with similar geometric forms cluster on the floor around these structures.
