As part of the exhibition Frozen Lakes, artist Charlotte Prodger and writer and curator Isla Leaver-Yap present a scripted dialogue on the circuitous and incidental language of desire.
The conversation draws on their email correspondence held over the preceding months, where communication is both form and subject. This dialogue considers the ways in which the Internet sequences private experiences, and the typologies that occur when desire is conflated with technology. Prodger and Leaver-Yap address such sequencing in relation to early technologies (hand axes, bifaces, time-keeping devices) and our contemporary apparatus (forums, Internet browsers, online archives).

Charlotte Prodger (born 1974, Bournemouth, England) lives and works in Glasgow. Recent solo exhibitions include Studio Voltaire, London and Intermedia, Glasgow (both 2012); Kendall Koppe, Glasgow (2011); and a two-person exhibition at Essex Street, New York (2012); Hotel, London (2012); and Transmission, Glasgow (2011). Prodger is a member of the collaborative writing group Brown Study, and was a founding member of the band Muscles Of Joy.
Isla Leaver-Yap writes about and organizes projects with artists. She contributes to Afterall and Mousse, as well as other periodicals. At the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London, she co-organized Nought to Sixty, and started the ongoing Artists Film Club. She curated the 2011 exhibition season Short Stories at SculptureCenter, New York. In 2012, she was the editor of LUX’s Live Journal and curator for The Biennial of Moving Images.
