In 2010, Artists Space launched its new 'Friends of Artists Space' program, with contributions starting at $2,500 (respectively $5,000, $7,500, $15,000) annually and a desired long-term commitment of at least three years. The 'Friends of Artists Space' funds exclusively support our programming – artists’ work and their exhibitions here at Artists Space - this is the most direct investment in artists and their production. 100 Friends of Artists Space on the lowest level of $2,500, for example, would mean a new revenue stream of $250,000 annually - and hopefully growing over the next years. Friends are invited to and celebrated as our guests at the Annual Friends of Artists Space Dinner. No ticket sales, just a feast to say: “Thanks for supporting our work, as it is this alone that matters!”
The Annual Friends of Artists Space Dinner in honor of Yvonne Rainer was held on the 6th of May, 2011, 7:30pm. The laudation was given by Gregg Bordowitz, artist, writer, member of the activist group Act Up, and Professor of Film, Video, and New Media at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Food was prepared by St. John Restaurant and Arnold & Henderson, London; wine courtesy Châteaux La Coste, Aix en Provence. Artists Space likes to thank: MIT Press; Michael Stipe and Paddy McKillen; the Friends of Artists Space; Gregg Bordowitz, Yvonne Rainer and the Raindears.
We invite you to consider becoming a Friend of Artists Space. One of these sums, small for major institutions, will make a world of difference to us and to the world for which we make a difference.
