In 2010, Artists Space launched its 'Friends of Artists Space' program, with contributions starting at $2,500 (respectively $5,000, $7,500, $15,000) annually and a desired long-term commitment of at least three years. The 'Friends of Artists Space' funds exclusively support our programming – artists’ work and their exhibitions here at Artists Space - this is the most direct investment in artists and their production. Friends are invited as our guests to the Annual Friends of Artists Space Dinner. No ticket sales, just a feast to say: “Thanks for supporting our work, as it is this alone that matters!”
The Annual Friends of Artists Space Dinner 2013 will be held in honor of Douglas Crimp on Saturday, May 11. As art historian, curator of Pictures (Artists Space, 1977), activist and as an editor of October Magazine, Crimp as no other art historian has directly and indirectly been closely interwoven with Artists Space’s own thinking. Previous honorees include artist and musician Alan Vega (2012), filmmaker and choreographer Yvonne Rainer (2011), and activist and art historian Julie Ault (2010).
We invite you to consider becoming a Friend of Artists Space. One of these sums, small for major institutions, will make a world of difference to us and to the world for which we make a difference.
